Can you tell me where Kentucky mandolins are made?
Current Kentucky mandolins are made in China. Previously, they were made in Korea, and the first Kentucky mandolins were made in Japan.
Only some Kentucky Mandolins will show the country of origin on the label inside the mandolin. Many would have had a sticker on the back of the neck.
Unlike many Asian made instruments, Kentucky mandolins have always had a great reputation for quality. It would be a mistake to group these in with the mass produced mandolins. Even their lowest models are nice, with their highest models rivaling instruments costing 3 times the price.
As of this writing, with few exceptions, the Kentucky Mandolins made from 2015 on are the best yet. They setup a new shop in 2012 and have been steadily improving since.
We sell all of the Kentucky Mandolins. We are not always the cheapest, but we do excellent setup work. We are also providing links below. Amazon occasionally has some great deals that we just can't beat. :)
Looking at a Km-250 maybe made in 2011. Any info would help, where made is 2011 a good year, etc.

Bob, The 2011 Kentucky KM-250 is one of the best versions made. Second best to be exact! For the most part, these have gotten better with each redesign. The last major update was 2015. As of now, the new KM-250 model is a bit nicer than your mandolin, but your KM-250 is no slouch!
It was made in China.
