KM-1500

CS-1520 Hardshell case and Case Cover included (Retails for $295).

The new master model KM-1500 from Kentucky uses the finest, most highly figured Michigan Maple combined with the whitest, most fine-grained Adirondack spruce. These solid woods are meticulously hand carved and graduated — just as were the fabled originals of the early '20s, to achieve the finest tone quality and volume possible in a new instrument.

Folkmusician no longer stocks this mandolin, but we are very familiar with it!

The KM-1500 is became legendary for its tone, or at least for the price point. This is not a cheap mandolin, but when you have it in your hands, you realize that it is an incredible value in a professional quality mandolin. The woods are sourced from North America, with Adirondack Spruce (Red Spruce) for the top and Maple from Michigan. This combined with the carving and detailed graduation, result in a woofy, dry tone that is perfect for a bluegrass mandolin.

While it is not about the looks, the Kentucky KM-1500 still has them! The nitrocellulose finish is thin and the fit and finish rivals mandolins 3x-4x the price. There is gold hardware and an intricate Fern inlay.
