This service involves the fitting of existing mandolin bridges. It is typically needed with new mandolins, or those that have never had the bridge properly fit to the top. The mandolin bridge fitting includes, fitting the bridge base (or foot) to the top of the mandolin and correcting any minor string spacing issues. Properly fitting and ramping string grooves. Setting the bridge for correct intonation. Other minor issues may be addressed where needed/possible.
We often run across instruments where the bridge is leaning at an extreme angle and there is not enough wood left on the bridge to correct this, bridge saddles that are too thin and warping or about to break, posts that are not properly seated in the base, improper intonation, cracks, etc. In these cases, a new bridge would need to be fit.
New mandolins purchased from Folkmusician Include this service free of charge.
